"The burden of government is to be the gatekeeper of freedom, not the arbitrator of free will."

"Gatekeeper of freedom"
The government’s role as the gatekeeper of freedom means it exists to protect the rights and liberties of its citizens. This role is about providing the structure and safeguards that allow individuals to pursue their goals, express themselves, and make choices without fear of oppression or violation. Government serves as a protector, preserving the conditions that allow freedom to exist and thrive.

"Not the arbitrator of free will"
At the same time, the government is not the judge of individual choices or the enforcer of personal values. Instead, the government should step back from interfering in personal decisions, as long as those decisions do not harm others. Government responsibility is to safeguard liberty, not control it, ensuring that citizens can act according to their own conscience, pursue their own paths, and shape their own lives.
